Indeed it’s a source of still extant resentment on Reddit that the rather skilled and very popular moderator, Victoria Taylor, was let go during an apparently cruel round of reshuffling by the Reddit top brass a few years ago.
It used to be the case the AMAs were moderated. Reddit, for all its terrible flaws, does have a lot of very witty and insightful users, and when an AMA goes well and a celebrity’s personality matches with the audience, there’s real joy to be had. They have become a semi-regular (if still relatively niche) stop on the celebrity promotional circuit, and have in the past been host to informative, endearing, and sometimes hilarious episodes.
Reddit’s ‘Ask Me Anything’ threads can be delightful little romps.
